" This book club edition combines three Agatha Christie mysteries united on the setting of events in transit by train and plane. The anonymity of a solo passenger--isolated by their very immersion in a crowd of fellow anonymous solo passengers--is an enabling theme in these stories. Two of the three are Hercule Poirot, all bluster and ego and indirection and mustaches so ably played by Kenneth Branagh, and the third is Miss Marple, with her quiet direct logic. What Mrs. McGillicuddy Saw was a murder glance through the window of her train and the window of a train running in the same direction on a parallel track. When the two windows were in sync for a few brief seconds stunned the elderly Mrs., who promptly reported it to the steward in her car, a policeman at the station where both cars were slowing to arrive, and to her friend Miss Marple, who then took the witness to retell the story to yet another policeman familiar with Miss Marple's calm detecting skills. But when there was no news about the apparent murder in the press and no dead body reported found on a train, the two ladies hatched a plan to investigate the case on their own to help convince the police that the event had actually happened."- Todd -6254 number on jacket with some edge wear.

In its original dust jacket (very gently bumped on corners and spine ends, faded titles on a sunned spine as typical for this edition, perhaps a tad discoloured). The Agatha Christie Crime Collection, issued by Hamlyn Publishing Group in the late 1960s and early 1970s, is a definitive collected edition of Christie's crime fiction, including her short stories, up to the publication of Nemesis in 1972. Each volume contains three of her detective fiction novels. Issued by Hamlyn on by monthly subscription only and was not sold through bookshops. The set was nicely produced, with each volume featuring golden dagger over Christie's initials on the front panel, coloured endpapers, sprayed edges and encased in period dust jackets, each one featuring a element of one of the three mysteries. Some of those in the series are now hard to find especially, it is said, some of the later issues, as subscriptions to the series fell off towards the end.
