Size: 8vo-over 7.75"-9.75" tall; No date on this Grosset & Dunlap reprint, but copyright 1945 by John C. Winston was the first edition (listed on verso title page). This is volume #3 in the Silver Chief series. Book has no names, tears or soil inside. Head of 211pp text is dyed burgundy. Brown 'tweedy' paper covered boards with small splits in paper at spine ends. Story title and decorative edging on backstrip title. Famous Dog Stories and G, D, with a thistle flower separating these two initials are all that is decorating the front tweedy paper covered boards. Spine ends and upper tips bumped, lower tips still sharp. Unclipped (and unpriced) color illustrated dj in new mylar shows several short closed tears, a couple of short, triangular chips on frt and rear panels, plus a 3/4" x 1.5" chip at head of spine that took a piece of the last letter R on Silver with it.
One of the 'Famous Dog Stories" this tale is set in the frozen Canadian north and concerns the adventures of a husky and his Mountie master. Book is fine with no marks or inscriptions; jacket is very good with only very minor losses.
