c1900 collection of 8 traditional nursery rhymes and illustrated by one of my favourite illustrators : Caldecotts pictures are humerous, colourful, light in tone and seem to be drawn with a few lines.Pro animals this volume contains the classic end piece to baby bunting, who wrapped in a rabbit fur as a coat is then taken on a walk through woods where he sees rabbits, with a look of astonishment on both his and the rabbit's faces. Also the fox in "Fox Jumps Over The Parsons Gate " is seen on top of the horse chasing the huntsman! Is becoming disbound seams have been taped, but all complete , all but a couple of pages are tight in binding, covers clean and unscuffed.

c.1890 printing (n.d.) hardcover, bound in pictorial green cloth, is in Poor condition, having wear to top and bottom spine; evidence of ancient water staining on back cover and throughout book; surface and edge wear to covers and spine; some shaking to binding. Illustrated with color plate drawings, and sepia drawings by Caldecott. Wonderful images. The water-staining seems to be just at the page edge, and doesn't impact the illustrations. Poetry for children. Classics. British. DB.
