The Viking Press, New York, 1946. Hardcover, 8vo., 404 pages. Red lettering on gray tweed-type cloth. Tiny bit of discoloring to bottom inch of spine, otherwise fine. My favorite is chapter 10, 'Black Coffee' which should inspire any writer to drink an extra cup along the daily path of productivity. Zweig makes Balzac come to life. Contains sepia drawing by Boulanger, one of a very few in which Balzac smiles.
