Signed by Richard Nixon on edition page. This is number 541 out of 2500 limited first edition copies. Dark red leather covers with gilt decoration on front and back and gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Front cover has a scuff mark along top edge by spine. Corners of covers have some rubbing. Gilt-edged pages, ribbon bookmark attached to binding, and silk endpapers. Inscribed on the half-title: "To Max Lerner - Who understands the Real World described in this volume - from Richard Nixon. 3-11-'82." Max Lerner (1902-1992) was a liberal syndicated columnist with the New York Post. His outspoken opinions and antiwar columns earned him a spot on "Nixon's Enemies List." By the 1980s, he become more conservative, expressing support for Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan.
