It begins with a writer named Roberta Anderson who unearths the unbelievably intact 'remains' of a buried ship--a ship that still vibrates faintly, still hums with some sort of life. And as the ship rises more and more out of the earth, the inhabitants of Haven start to change. First printing.

New York, NY: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1987. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. The chance discovery of a ship buried underground for millions of years transforms the inhabitants of a New England town into one evil, homicidal entity. First edition, second state, with a full 1 through 10 number line but without the "permissions to come" statement printed beneath as a true first printing would have. This copy features the author's name in red, though it should be noted that both the red and the gold versions are equally desirable. Aside from some browning to the pages and textblock edges, this is a very clean copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Corners are square, and the boards are flat and true with minimal wear. Dust jacket is unfortunately price-clipped and has a 1" tear with associated creasing in the back cover that is mirrored in the rear jacket flap. The jacket also has some scratching on the back cover, some browning to the flaps, and some bumping to the corners but otherwise shows only minor edge wear/scuffing. The red lettering on the front cover, which can be quite worn on these books, is in beautiful condition with only very slight rubbing to the letter "S." This collectible, very good+/very good, first edition/second printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!
