A lovely copy of this volume detailing the journey of the "Challenger, " with a folding map. The Cruise of Her Majesty's Ship "Challenger" details the ships many voyages over many seas, with its journey from England to Lisbon, Tenerife, Bermuda, Australia, New Zealand Japan the Falkland Islands and back home. Â The HMS Challenger was a steam assisted Royal Navy Pearl-class corvette and was the flagship of the Australia Station between 1866 and 1870. Â With a folding map showing the journey of the Challenger a frontispiece and many illustrations throughout the volume. Collated, complete. Â Â Undated, dated from Jisc, being the Fourteenth Edition. In full calf prize binding for Southport Centre. Externally, lovely. With a prize bookplate to the first page after the front free endpaper from the Southport Centre. Internally, firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages. Very Good Indeed.

Includes fold-out map in excellent condition. The boards are slightly rubbed and worn, but remain strong and sturdy. Internally, there is tanning and foxing throughout, but there are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages within are neat and complete with all illustrations. The binding is secure.
