School presentation inscription on the front fly-leaf. Some wear along the edges of the boards, mostly to the tail of the spine. A tight and clean copy in very good condition. An account of a major Round the World oceanographic cruise in H.M.S. Challenger under the direction of Professor Sir Charles Wyllie Thomson, F.R.S. The major scientific emphasis was on a study of the seabed, but the narrative covers an extensive description of the places visited.
