London: William Pickering, 1846. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. First edition in English. (iv), 197 pp. Late 19th Century three quarter leather over marbled paper, spine lettered in gilt. A Good or better copy with edges well-rubbed and cloth and leather mostly rubbed off or chipped there. Lacking front free endpaper. Last signature of pages at rear protrudes slightly and rear hinge split.
An early English-language publication of the Danish folklorist's work, including "The Ugly Duckling," "The Little Mermaid" and "The Emperor's New Clothes.
