A Francoist supporter, he was also something of an existentialist in this novel whose anti-hero commits, crimes and murders making it reminiscent of Camu's The Stranger. The New York Times calls it "After Don Quixote, probably the most widely read novel in Spanish literature." This copy is in excellent collector's condition; very tight, with very fresh cloth and sparkling gilt titles. It deals with characters in the beehive of Madrid, especially one cafe and the people who frequent it. The book has one slight dampstain at the top of the first few pages, slight shelfwear, and edges that are slightly soiled. A red dot appears on bottom edge but the book's age precedes the more modern practice of remainder marks. The jacket also precedes laminated ones and the plain paper is subject to wear, however it has always been protected by mylar, thus shows little wear, no price clipping, but a bit of tanning.
