The Road.
by McCarthy, Cormac
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2006. First edition of McCarthyâs Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of a post-apocalyptic world, a work of âstunning, savage beauty,â adapted to the screen in 2009 starring Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron. Octavo, original half cloth. Signed by Cormac McCarthy on a laid in bookplate. Signed by jacket designer Chip Kidd three times; on the front panel, the front free endpaper and on the rear panel. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Jacket design by Chip Kidd. In Cormac McCarthyâs The Road a father and son travel through a post-apocalyptic world in a novel of âstunning, savage beauty⦠written with stripped-down urgency and fueled by the force of a universal nightmare. This is an exquisitely bleak incantationâpure poetic brimstoneâ (New York Times). âThe Road is a wildly powerful and disturbing bookâ (Time). The Road earned McCarthy the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and became the basis for the 2009 film starring Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron.

The Road
by Cormac McCarthy
Signed by Cormac McCarthy. Every collector of the works of Cormac McCarthy knows the story - Cormac said he would not sign any copies of his Pulitzer prize winner The Road except for some that he had saved for his son, John. However, he did sign a very small number of bookplates which were supplied by the author's UK agent at the time of publication for distribution to major book stores. This is the only legitimate signed version of The Road other than the few copies held by John McCarthy which have never been offered for sale. An extremely rare and sought-after item that will only gain in value over the years. The book is an excellent copy in a fine dustjacket. Signed to a bookplate pasted on the title page. Mylar protected and cased in a quarter Morocco, custom-made, clamshell presentation box. A magnificent way to store what will be the prize item in your Cormac McCarthy collection. Signed by Cormac McCarthy via the authorized, official Picador bookplate on the title-page. Bookplate measures approx. 4" x 3" (or 100mm x 75mm exactly), twin ruled in black, as issued.BooksCurious
