This is wonderfully kind and positive story of immigrants making a new life in Texas and contributing to the neighborhood. 96pp KLT 038733 LOC This chapter book, coming from a kinder gentler time, gives a very sympathetic spin to immigration from Mexico to the United States and portrays a family of 5 Mexicans, through the eyes of a 10 year old boy, and his part in seeking a better life and looking for work outside of San Antonio, Texas. I have scanned the opening pages to give you an idea of the narrative and fine writing by the author and the great illustrations. The book, which met with some water at some point, has a musty smell. Since we have had it for some years we have kept it dry and safe. We will pack it carefully in butcher paper, bubble wrap and mail in a padded envelope. SCANS available upon request.
