Brown hardback half-leather cover on green cloth boards. 170mm x 110mm (7" x 4"). viii, 256pp; 252pp. First series comprises twenty six engravings on wood; second series illustrated with sixteen wood-engravings. Wood-engraved frontispiece and vignette title-page to each volume. The first illustrated edition of Poe's 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' bound together with the scarce 'Tales of Humour'. Published under the auspices Vizetelly as part of the short-lived Readable Books series. The first series was published in 1652, second series undated but presumed to be 1653. Volume 2 is bound without advertisement leaf at rear of volume 2. .
