Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, inscribed by JK Rowling
by JK Rowling
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone; first edition, twelfth printing, paperback; inscribed by the author 'To Plymstock School, J.K. Rowling'. The signature is a very early and highly collectable example of the author's signature with the periods still present after the 'J' and the 'K'; as the author speeded up her signature, the periods were gone by mid to late 1998. Being a much-used school book, the book has lost its laminate and has creases to the covers, particularly the front cover; the spine is sunned, with small splits to the spine foot. Page 9 has a small closed edge tear and light green ink marks to the page. The remaining pages are toned, but in good condition. Inside the front cover of the book is a 'Children's Book Award Tester' sticker - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone won the award in 1998. Name in pencil to top of half-title page 'Plymstock'.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, First UK Edition, 23rd Printing Paperback, Bloomsbury, Signed & Inscribed by J.K. Rowling, Near Pristine
by J.K. Rowling
This is an authentic inscribed copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint pen to the dedication page. The original recipient, Caroline, was an employee at Waterstones, Reading, when J.K. Rowling visited to read to children from local primary schools and was responsible for looking after the authors who visited. This is one of a number of such events Rowling took part in before the phenomenon of Harry Potter really took off in 1999. Following the reading J.K. Rowling answered questions from the children and signed copies of her books. This is the book which she signed for Caroline who kept it for over 25 years before she sold it in May 2024. This copy is in extremely fine condition with no fading or creasing at all to the spine, and with an incredibly tight and square binding. It is clearly unread and in near perfect condition with no colour fading and no creases at all to the spine, a stunning example of a paperback book. Internally there are no inscriptions or writing of any kind with no dog eared pages, folds or creases. It has clearly been very well looked after and comes housed in a custom made quarter leather clamshell box with bespoke gold lettering to the spine. The signature and inscription come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card.

Rowling's signature and was signed to the dedication page in blue ballpoint pen ' To Lily, you will know that I love your name because I used it for Harry's mum!' Lily was the daughter of illustrator, Ian Beck, at the Hay Literary Festival. Ian knew the publicity and editorial team at Bloomsbury who introduced him to J.K. Rowling who was happy to inscribe this book for his daughter. This is a beautiful copy completely unread, with no colour fading at all to the spine. The page edges are surprising white and fresh which is incredibly rare for this book. They are often found with significant toning  due to the cheap paper stock used. It still has an incredibly tight binding, and hardly any bend or bowing to the front cover which is again very rare. The only minor flaw to the book is a slight nick to the base of the spine and a very minor water mark to the bottom of the half title page, otherwise this book is in stunning fine condition. There are no ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind with no dog eared pages, folds or creases to any of the pages. The book overall has clearly been very well looked after housed in its custom made quarter leather clamshell box with bespoke gold lettering to the spine. The signature and inscription come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. This book was previously owned by Adam himself having bought it in 2022 directly from the original owner. It comes with provenance in the form of an email and hand written letter by Ian Beck to Adam Houston.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets & Prisoner of Azkaban, First UK Paperback Editions, Bloomsbury, First Print Prisoner of Azkaban, All Signed and inscribed by J.K. Rowling 'To Hamish'
by J.K. Rowling
The books presented here are two later printings of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (43rd printing) and Chamber of Secrets (22nd printing) and a first printing of Prisoner of Azkaban. Each book is signed and inscribed 'To Hamish' who was the son of J.K. Rowling's neighbour when she was living in Abbotsford Park, Edinburgh. These are all 2000 variations of Rowling's signature and were all signed together for Hamish when he was eight years old. He kept the books for 24 years before deciding to sell them in 2024. All three books are in beautiful condition except for clear fading to the spines. Apart from that they are all in fine condition, unread with a tight and square binding and no clear creasing to the spines which is exceptionally rare for paperback books. There are no major creases or bowing at all to the front or back covers but there is the slightest bit of fading of the blue to the top left of the front cover of the second book only. Internally, there is very mild toning to the page edges, as always and is to be expected but no where near as is with most paperback copies. There are no ownership inscriptions or marks of any kind, no dog eared pages, tears or creases at all. Overall these books are in exceptional condition aside from the spine fading. All three signatures come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. This set comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. This is an extremely rare set of the first three books to find all inscribed with provenance.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, First UK Edition, 13th Printing Paperback, Bloomsbury, Signed & Inscribed by J.K. Rowling, Early 1998 Signature
by J.K. Rowling
This is an authentic J.K. Rowling inscription found in a first UK edition, 13th printing, paperback copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This is a summer-1998 Rowling signature variation and is particularly rare. At this time Rowling wasn't well known and she was able to spend more time with fans and create more personalised inscriptions in her books for them as is seen here. This particular book was signed at the recipient Kathleen's place of work and was kept by her until 2024. It has clearly been very well looked after and comes housed in a custom made quarter leather red clamshell box with bespoke gold lettering to the spine. The signature and inscription come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
by Rowling, J. K
First edition, fourth printing of the rarest book in the Harry Potter series, a cornerstone of young adult literature, and one of the best-selling books of all time. Octavo, original illustrated wrappers. Presentation copy, "For Jenny, who does believe in magic (I do too, really) (but don't tell anyone) J.K. Rowling." Also, with an original drawing of Harry Potter by jacket illustrator Thomas Taylor. The recipient, was the vendor's daughter Jenny, who was seven years old at the time, at the Edinburgh Literary Festival in August 1997. Jenny's mother wrote in her journal for that month "We all went to hear Joanne Rowling reading from her first children's book "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and were so impressed we bought a copy and Ms. Rowling signed it for Jenny. Jenny read "Harry Potter" first, then me and now she is reading it again so Peter has'nt had a chance yet! It really is a very good read". Rowling appeared in the Tepee Tent, the smallest venue at the festival, reading extracts of the book to an audience of less than fifty people. Jenny's mother recalls that "Jenny was aged 7 and very into wizards, magic, fairies and the like so when she took the book to be signed, she had a whispered question for Joanne Rowling-hence the inscription in the book." At the time of the book's publication in 1996, illustrator Thomas Taylor had just graduated from art school and was working at Heffers Children's Bookshop in Cambridge. At Heffers, Taylor educated himself on the children's book market and its major publishers and decided to submit a portfolio of his illustrations to the offices of Bloomsbury Publishing, including several drawings of dragons and wizards. Taylor heard back from Bloomsbury's editor, Barry Cunningham (who had recently decided to take a chance on publishing Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone after it had been rejected by twelve other publishers) almost immediately. Cunningham phoned him at Heffers and asked if he could create a design for the cover of a relatively unknown author's first book about a schoolboy wizard. He sent Taylor an incomplete manuscript of the book and, after two days, Taylor had a final product: a watercolor painting of a young Harry Potter with his lightning-bolt scar standing next to the Hogwarts Express on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. In very good condition. A unique inscription and drawing. The first novel in the Harry Potter series and Rowling's debut novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone follows Harry Potter, a young wizard who discovers his magical heritage on his eleventh birthday when he receives a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The book was first published in the United Kingdom on June 26, 1997 by Bloomsbury and in the United States the following year by Scholastic Corporation under the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The book reached the top of the New York Times list of best-selling fiction in August 1999 and stayed near the top of that list for much of 1999 and 2000. It has sold in excess of 120 million copies, making it one of the best-selling books of all time. The majority of reviews of the popular book were favorable, revering Rowling's imagination, humor, simple, direct style and clever plot construction. Rowling's style has been compared to that of Jane Austen (her favorite author), Roald Dahl (whose works dominated children's stories before the appearance of Harry Potter), and even the Ancient Greek story-teller Homer. The first book in the series was followed by six sequels published on an annual basis between 1997 and 2000. The series has sold more that 500 million copies worldwide and has been âtranslated into 80 languages, âmaking it the best-selling book series in history and among history's most translated literary works. â The last four books in the series consecutively set records as the fastest-selling books of all time, where the final...

In 2000, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Novel, and in 2001, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire won said award. Honors include a commendation for the Carnegie Medal (1997), a short listing for the Guardian Children's Award (1998), and numerous listings on the notable books, editors' Choices, and best books lists of the American Library Association, The New York Times, Chicago Public Library, and Publishers Weekly. Also the basis for the eight fantasy films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and culminating with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2 (2011). The series was mainly produced by David Heyman, and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson as the three leading characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
