1957. First GB edition. 63 pages. This is an ex-Library book. Blue jacket over grey cloth. Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Pages are mildly tanned throughout. Text is clear. Binding remains firm. Boards are presumed clean as jacket is taped down. Clipped jacket. Panels have light edge wear with tears and creasing. Visible tanning all over.

Solid with a small crease on the front cover and otherwise the covers show light wear. The previous owner's name is on the title page.

A 1st thus (Bantam Books 1640) of a mid 1950s novel. "The utterly honest, sharply humorous, touching and revealing story of a small-town doctor, told by a great novelist." Light wear to the edges. Light browning to the pages. A very good or better copy.
