There is a 3/4" closed tear in the paper at the foot of the spine, and there is a small, light stain on the bottom edge of the front cover. The pages are tanned. Les lettres nouvelles 18. Signed by Ferlinghetti on the front cover. Ferlinghetti helped to ignite the San Francisco literary renaissance of the 1950s and the “Beat” movement. It was Ferlinghetti's strong belief, that art should be accessible to all people, not just a small sector of highly educated intellectuals.
