Spine darkened; board edges and spine ends worn with fraying to the cloth; contemporary owner name above a much later gift inscription from the same owner, otherwise clean. Founded in 1924 by a collection of labor unions, the Pioneer Youth of America was an outgrowth of the labor movement. It's aim was, like so many other youth organizations, to prepare children to tackle the problems of the world. A notable reform movement.

Mild edge wear of hardcover. Author was director of Pioneer Youth of America and its National Experimental Camp (1924-1929). The camp taught workers' children social progressivism.
