A short memoir of Smith's younger days as a twenty-something on Greenwich Village's famous MacDougal Street. Published by Hanuman Books as a paperback original twenty years earlier, with a very small distribution, this is a revamped hardcover edition, with additional writing omitted from the first printing, supplemented with new photographs and illustrations. Flawless copy, new in dw and SIGNED by Smith on the title page. Uncommon in spite of its recent vintage!

New York: Unmuzzled Ox, 1984. First edition. Cloth. Fine. Folios. Four consecutive issues of Michael Andre's Unmuzzled Ox Magazine sold here together in a Special Publisher's Clothbound format. Printed on inexpensive newsprint type paper and measuring 11 1/4 x 16 1/2" tall. These four issues all contain extensions of Cantos of Ezra Pound by a wide variety of poets and artists including Corso, Buckminster Fuller, John Cage, James Lee Byars, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Creeley and others. Also these issues includes writings, photographs, interviews and more with Charles Henri Ford, W. S. Burroughs, Ira Cohen, Patti Smith et al. Other than toning to the paperstock which is normal for these issues, they are in fine condition. Special lavender clothbound edition printed in silver provided directly by the publisher in presumably very small quantities. This copy comes with the original mailing envelope from the publisher SIGNED by Michael Andre in 1995 and sent to poet Jackson Mac Low.

Nantucket, Massachusetts: Unpublished, 1976. Photograph of rock and roll Hall of Fame member Patti Smith with her youngest sister, Kimberly.  The photo was taken by Lynn Goldsmith (her stamp on the verso) when Kimberly was a roadie for her big sister.  One of the songs on Patti's album "Horses" is titled "Kimberly" and is about her young sister. The photo is signed by both Patti and Kimberly without inscription.  The image is in excellent condition, though there are a couple of tiny dings in the white margin.  Provenance: from the collection of Kimberly Smith, from her home in Richmond, Virginia.. It was the summer Coltrane died, the summer of love and riots, and the summer when a chance encounter in Brooklyn led two young people on a path of art, devotion, and initiation. Just Kids begins as a love story and ends as an elegy. It serves as a salute to New York City during the late sixties and seventies and to its rich and poor, its hustlers and hellions. A true fable, it is a portrait of two young artists' ascent, a prelude to fame.

This book is hard-bound in burgundy covers with a black leather spine, with light gray stamping to the upper cover and spine, with a pictorial paste-down on the upper cover. There is some very light rubbing to the edges of the spine-ends, as well as somne light wear to the very top and bottom of the joints, but with the covers in otherwise excellent condition. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and clean with 250, black & white photo illustrations throughout. This book is signed/inscribed by the author/artist Patti Smith on the title-page. Laid-in at the front of the book is a folded booklet/pamphlet titled, "Patti Smith, A Pythagorean Traveler. An Evening of Words and Song, January 11, 2007," which is signed by Patti Smith on the inside. Also included with the book is the padded, mailing envelope which was used to ship the book between the collector and the author/artist (The envelope is torn open, but added for provenance.) - From the collection of Cuthbert Christian Thambimuttu (1945-2019) of Columbus, Ohio - known to many of his bookseller, author, and illustrator friends as "Tubby." He was persistent in the pursuit of autographed books by the writers and artists he admired, including Gorey, Sendak, Heaney, Byatt, Morrison, Updike and many more. Joseph Heller once wrote to Tubby in response to one more "please sign and return" request: "This is turning out to be a hell of a lot of work!" All signed books unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic. Many of the books are inscribed to both Cuthbert and his great friend of more than two decades Antonia Gale Moss. ; Signed by Author .

A single sheet (printed on only one side), consisting of thick, light-blue rag paper, measuring 8 1/2" x 12". (Ironically, given the connection to The Gotham Book Mart, this was written just before, as legend has it, Patti's 1974 short stint working in the bowels of The Strand).

This is copy number 13 of 22 hand-numbered copies with a Rimbaud piece Signed by Patti Smith bound in. The colophon indicates that there were 25 copies signed by both poets, but Verlaine signed none, and the handwritten limitation seems to indicate that there were 22 copies rather than either the 25 stated, or the 20 we've heard speculated. Rare.
