Store Stamped. --- --- One minute she was grasping at a dream; the next, she was grasping at straws. Waitressing in Paris enabled Jackie Archer to live in the city she loved. Being suddenly jobless and homeless--thanks to the wild antics of a handsome stranger--was a disaster. Yet within hours the erstwhile midwestern librarian and the adventurous California vintner had struck a deal. Peter Santiago would spend the last of his savings to transform her. From haute couture to haute cuisine, he'd create a tantalizing, polished Parisienne. Then they'd set out to woo the elite investors who would help reestablish his new French vineyards. Separately, they were in big trouble. Together, they were innocents abroad. Jackie had no choice but to trust him with her immediate future. But once passion entered into their partnership, could she trust him with her heart? . . .See photos for additional content. . .

SALE Near Very Good. Original Limited First Edition Wrappers. New York: At-Swim Press, 1981. First Limited Edition. 8v. A wonderful collection of Irish American poetry by the founder and owner of 'Facsimile Books', Kevin T. McEneaney a great New York City Irish bookstore that like my store, "Three Geese In Flight Celtic Books", and "Rivendell" and "Keshkerigan" were part of the "Golden Age" of Celtic Bookstores in New York specialized in Irish and Celtic Books. Few bookstores survive against the beast. I am perhaps the last survivor of the Alamo. Here at least Kevin's fine Irish American poetry has survived in this limited edition to 300 copies. This has a attractive Celtic calligraphy on the card cover. Full page Celtic design page as well. Except for cover soiling and fading in good shape and internally clean and bright. Here inscribed and signed by McEneaney himself. See our Three Geese in Flight Book Scans.

New. $29.95 * Reprint of the first edition. Written between 1604 and 1605, De Jure Praedae [On the Law of Prize], which remained in manuscript until 1868, is the earliest significant legal work by Hugo Grotius [1583-1645]. His discussion of prize is not restricted to issues of legality; he seeks to determine also whether the capture of enemy material is honorable or expedient. He pursues these issues through an elegant argument based on natural law. Remarkable for its intellectual finesse and literary quality, De Jure Praedae is equally significant as the source of two of his most important writings. Mare Liberum (1609) is based on one of its chapters. It also contains an early version of De Jure Belli ac Pacis (1625). In this regard, the book offers a valuable introduction to the issues explored in these later works. Appended to this reprint is Robert J. Fruin's valuable essay An Unpublished Work of Hugo Grotius's. Written in 1868 and later republished in English in 1925, it remains the principal study of this work. Hugo Grotius [1583-1645], a pre-eminent contributor to international legal doctrine, was an influential Dutch jurist, philosopher and theologian. His other works include De Jure Belli ac Pacis [On the Law of War and Peace] (1625), one of the great treatises on international law, and Mare Liberum [The Freedom of the Seas] (1609), a compelling plea for free trade among nations.
