Volume, measuring approximately 6.75" x 9.75", is bound in red cloth, with stamped gilt lettering to spine. Book shows light shelfwear, with scattered light foxing to top edge of text block. Binding is firm. Interior is clean and bright. Dust jacket displays mild edgewear. Jacket is preserved in mylar cover. vii/568 pages. A personal account of Solzhenitsyn's life and work between the publication of "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" in 1962, to his expulsion from the Soviet Union in 1974. During the years of official disappproval, he still managed to get his plays, novels and manifestos published.
