Spine lower edge bumped otherwise fine. True first printing of the trade edition with "Permissions to Come" line at the bottom of the copyright information after the number line 1-10. It begins with a writer named Roberta Anderson, looking for firewood in the forest that stretches behind her house. Bobbi stumbles over three inches of metal, which unusually heavy spring runoff has left sticking out of the soil. A logger's beer can, she thinks at first, but "the metal was as solid as mother-rock." Location DD.

The chance discovery of a ship buried underground for millions of years transforms the inhabitants of a New England town into one evil, homicidal entity. First edition, second state, with a full 1 through 10 number line but without the "permissions to come" statement printed beneath as a true first printing would have. This copy features the author's name in red, though it should be noted that both the red and the gold versions are equally desirable. Aside from some browning to the pages and textblock edges, this is a very clean copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Corners are square, and the boards are flat and true with minimal wear. Dust jacket is unfortunately price-clipped and has a 1" tear with associated creasing in the back cover that is mirrored in the rear jacket flap. The jacket also has some scratching on the back cover, some browning to the flaps, and some bumping to the corners but otherwise shows only minor edge wear/scuffing. The red lettering on the front cover, which can be quite worn on these books, is in beautiful condition with only very slight rubbing to the letter "S." This collectible, very good+/very good, first edition/second printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!
