The Tommyknockers
by King, Stephen
Spine lower edge bumped otherwise fine. True first printing of the trade edition with "Permissions to Come" line at the bottom of the copyright information after the number line 1-10. It begins with a writer named Roberta Anderson, looking for firewood in the forest that stretches behind her house. Bobbi stumbles over three inches of metal, which unusually heavy spring runoff has left sticking out of the soil. A logger's beer can, she thinks at first, but "the metal was as solid as mother-rock." Location DD.

Tommyknockers, The
by King, Stephen
New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons Permissions to Come. BOOK: Corners, Spine Bumped; Light Shelf Rub to Boards; Edges Lightly Soiled; Pages 33-64 Yellowed by Comparison to All Others (Aging of Publishers' Choice of Paper). DUST JACKET: Colouring Distorted in Lettering of Author's First Name (Publication Flaw); Lightly Chipped; In Archival Quality Jacket Cover. SYNOPSIS: Late last night and the night before, Tommyknockers, Tommyknockers, Knocking at the door. I want to go out, don't know if I can, 'cause I'm so afraid Of the Tommyknocker man. It begins with nothing more frightening than a nursery rhyme; yet in Stephen King's hands it becomes an unforgettable parable of dread, a threat from an unimaginable darkness that drags the practical inhabitants of a New England village into a hell worse than their own most horrible nightmares . . . and yours. It begins with a writer named Roberta Anderson, looking for firewood in the forest that stretches behind her house. Bobbi stumbles over three inches of metal, which unusually heavy spring runoff has left sticking out of the soil. A logger's beer can, she thinks at first, but "the metal was as solid as mother-rock." It begins with Bobbi's discovery of the ship in the earth, a ship buried for millions of years, but still vibrating faintly, still humming with some sort of life . . . faint . . . weak . . . but still better left alone. Bobbi then begins to dig - tentatively at first, then compulsively - and is joined by her old friend (and onetime lover), Jim Gardener. Aided by a weirdly advanced technology, their excavation proceeds apace. And as they uncover more and more of an artefact both familiar and so unbelievable it is almost beyond comprehension, the inhabitants of Haven start to change. There is the new hot-water heater in Bobbi's basement - a hot-water heater that apparently runs on flashlight batteries. The vengeful housewife who learns of her husband's affair . . . from a picture of Jesus on top of her TV, a picture that begins to talk. Not to mention the ten-year-old magician who makes his little brother disappear . . . for real. The townspeople of Haven are "becoming" - being welded into one organic, homicidal, and fearsomely brilliant entity in fatal thrall to the Tommyknockers. In this riveting, nightmarish story, Stephen King has given us his tautest, most terrifying novel to date. And the next time someone raps at your door, you may want to keep the chain on. It just might be the Tommyknocker Man.. First Edition 1st Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

The Tommyknockers
by King, Stephen
New York, NY: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1987. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. The chance discovery of a ship buried underground for millions of years transforms the inhabitants of a New England town into one evil, homicidal entity. First edition, second state, with a full 1 through 10 number line but without the "permissions to come" statement printed beneath as a true first printing would have. This copy features the author's name in red, though it should be noted that both the red and the gold versions are equally desirable. Aside from some browning to the pages and textblock edges, this is a very clean copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Corners are square, and the boards are flat and true with minimal wear. Dust jacket is unfortunately price-clipped and has a 1" tear with associated creasing in the back cover that is mirrored in the rear jacket flap. The jacket also has some scratching on the back cover, some browning to the flaps, and some bumping to the corners but otherwise shows only minor edge wear/scuffing. The red lettering on the front cover, which can be quite worn on these books, is in beautiful condition with only very slight rubbing to the letter "S." This collectible, very good+/very good, first edition/second printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!

The Tommyknockers
by King, Stephen
The chance discovery of a ship buried underground for millions of years transforms the inhabitants of a New England town into one evil, homicidal entity. First edition, second state, with a full 1 through 10 number line but without the "permissions to come" statement printed beneath as a true first printing would have. This copy features the author's name in gold, though it should be noted that both the red and the gold versions are equally desirable. The book itself is clean with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Corners are square, and the boards are flat and true with only some light edge wear. There may be some very, very light browning to the pages as well as some light soiling to the textblock foreedge. Dust jacket is not price-clipped but does have some scuffing and light scratching, some minor edge wear, and some browning to the jacket flaps and white lettering on the front cover and spine. The inside of the jacket is also browned and somewhat soiled along the spine. The gold lettering on the front cover, which can be quite worn on these books, shows moderate rubbing. This collectible, very good+/very good, first edition/second printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!

The book itself appears unread and is exceptionally clean with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Corners are square, and the boards are flat and true with virtually no wear at all. Dust jacket is not price-clipped but does have some moderate wear including some scuffing, scratching, some small creases, and some bumping to the corners but no real tears. Also the flaps are moderately browned. The lettering on the front cover, which can be quite worn on these books, is only very, very lightly rubbed in about half of the letters. A great-looking second state for a great price! This collectible, fine/very good+, copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!

The Tommyknockers
by King, Stephen
E Rutherford, New Jersey, U.S.A.: Putnam Pub Group, 1987. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. The chance discovery of a ship buried underground for millions of years transforms the inhabitants of a New England town into one evil, homicidal entity. This is a true first printing with the phrase "Permissions to Come" printed beneath a correct full number line sequence. This copy features the author's name in red, though it should be noted that both the red and the gold versions are equally desirable. Save for some large pencil markings on the front endpapers (which are not readily noticeable against the dark green paper), this is a very clean copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Corners are square, and the boards are flat and true, though they show some general wear. Dust jacket is not price-clipped but also shows some wear and scuffing. The back cover is also lightly creased, and the flaps and inside edges have some browning. The lettering on the front cover, which can be quite worn on these books, shows minimal rubbing. This highly collectible, very good/very good, first edition/first printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. A classic King novel at a great price! Satisfaction guaranteed!

The Tommyknockers
by King, Stephen
The chance discovery of a ship buried underground for millions of years transforms the inhabitants of a New England town into one evil, homicidal entity.

The chance discovery of a ship buried underground for millions of years transforms the inhabitants of a New England town into one evil, homicidal entity. This is a true first printing with the phrase "Permissions to Come" printed beneath a correct full number line sequence. This copy features the author's name in gold, though it should be noted that both the red and the gold versions are equally desirable. Spine is tight and crisp. Boards are flat and true, and the corners are square. Boards show a bit of wear, the textblock edges are very lightly soiled, and pages 213 through 228 are creased along the upper corners, but otherwise this copy is in great shape. Dust jacket is not price-clipped and shows only minor edge wear/scuffing, though there is some browning to the flaps and inside edges. The lettering on the front cover, which can be quite worn on these books, is for the most part intact but does show moderate rubbing. This collectible, very good+/very good+, first edition/first printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. This is a great copy of a classic King novel at a great price!
