Octavo, 309 pages, black. boards, appears unread; in a mylar dj protector. The First Printing, with complete number line, in a revised state of the dust jacket with a variant of no price on the front flap, and with the numeral '1' at top of spine, and a new review from Publishers Weekly of dj. Also, the text on the lower dj flap tells of J. K. Rowling's hard times and prizes. Scholastic used the artwork of a single illustrator across the series: Mary Grandpre. To [Arthur A.] Levine this is part of the image and branding of the series. He noted ' . I have always said this is a classic book. This is a book that you remember when you're thirty-five and you remember when you were ten. And that was the book that changed your life. There's continuity there - when you see that on your shelf you think, wow this is that book .' ." - [ Errington A4(c) note - reporting 35,000 copies in the first printing]. NOTE: the first american illustrated deluxe edition, in deluxe hardback, appeared in November, 2015 - see Errington A4(i).

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone first edition
by JK Rowling
Harry Potter spent ten long years living with Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, an aunt and uncle whose outrageous favoritism of their perfectly awful son Dudley leads to some of the most inspired dark comedy since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But fortunately for Harry, he's about to be granted a scholarship to a unique boarding school called THE HOGWORTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY, where he will become a school hero at the game of Quidditch (a kind of aerial soccer played high above the ground on broomsticks), he will make some wonderful friends, and, unfortunately, a few terrible enemies. For although he seems to be getting your run-of-the-mill boarding school experience (well, ok, even that's pretty darn out of the ordinary), Harry Potter has a destiny that he was born to fulfill. A destiny that others would kill to keep him from.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
by Rowling, J. K.
NY: Scholastic, 1998. Book Club Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 1998 Scholastic 1st (and possibly Book Club) Edition, 1st printing with a full number line. It is in F/F condition. Compared to the first printings, this is distinctly different in the following ways: 1. It has purple/black boards, not embossed boards 2. "JK Rowling" (not just Rowling) is at the top of the spine. 3. Similar to true 1st editions of the book, there is no number "1" inside a herald-like border on the spine of either the HB or the DJ. 4. On the copyright page is the full number line. 5. Unlike most book club editions, the DJ is priced at $17.95. The original price of the true first edition is $16.95 6. The DJ is flat-printed, not embossed as in the first pressings. Nonetheless, it appears to be a rare, early, unread edition and, therefore, a great value.

HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE
by Rowling, J.K.
Signed early printing of the US edition of the first book in the Harry Potter series, with the slightly altered title (from "Philosopher's" to "Sorcercer's") and the vivid illustrations by Mary GrandPré. The Harry Potter series, about a boy who goes to a wizard school, has been the biggest literary phenomenon of our lifetime. The books remain formative for millions, including the many readers who reject Rowling's agitations against trans rights. This copy from the personal collection of Mary and Robert Brown, longtime owners of Books, Bytes, and Beyond bookstore in Glen Rock, NJ, who hosted Rowling for an event in October 1999, where this book was signed. Due to the strength of the forgery market, Rowling signatures are justifiably suspect. Authentically signed copies with clear provenance, like this one, are therefore more desirable. An excellent example of her early signature. 9'' x 6''. Original quarter red cloth, purple paper boards, gilt-lettered spine (no "Year 1"). In original unclipped ($17.95) color pictorial dust jacket with art by GrandPré. Dark green endpapers. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Grandpré. 21st printing. viii, 309, [1], [2] pages. Signed by Rowling in black ink on title page. Overall clean, bright, sharp, and tight.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone [UNCORRECTED PROOF]
by J.K. Rowling
This is a gently-read copy from the "advance reader's edition" (uncorrected proof) produced for reviewers and other book industry insiders in advance of the publication of the first American edition of this first Harry Potter book in September 1998. This book is tight, clean, bright and has been stored in archival conditions. Please see my attached photos. Note the marketing plan included on the back cover which shows the first printing of the debut American edition was planned at a remarkably low 30,000 copies. The print run of this edition was certainly much lower than that and few remain in such perfect condition.
